Voxeloft
Technology

Adaptive structure.
Variable insulation.

Voxeloft is Goldwin’s proprietary structural design technology that uses a layered air structure to deliver flexible thermal regulation—providing exceptional warmth in cold conditions while preventing overheating as temperatures rise to maintain a constantly comfortable microclimate. By adapting to diverse weather conditions with a single garment and eliminating the need for frequent layer changes, this cutting-edge technology combines high versatility and utility. It offers immense benefits not only for activities with wide temperature swings like hiking and trail running, but also for modern urban living with its unpredictable weather.

A New Layered Air Structure for Optimal Thermal Insulation

In the outdoors, you must face a wide range of environmental changes and protect yourself using only the gear you can carry. In activities like trekking and trail running—where maintaining mobility alongside comfort and safety is essential to keep moving—reducing risk with minimal equipment is a key challenge. Goldwin’s answer to this challenge is the development of an outerwear piece with air-injected insulation inside a waterproof shell, allowing you to secure appropriate warmth without taking off your shell, even when layering is difficult. The idea was inspired by triple-pane glass used to increase building insulation. Applying this concept, Goldwin successfully built a layered structure inside the garment capable of holding multiple air layers through geometric bonding patterns. The result is an unprecedented hybrid outerwear piece that seamlessly combines two distinct items into one: a lightweight rain jacket and a heavy insulation jacket.

Convection Suppression Mechanism Provided by the Layered Structure

Existing insulation jackets also enhance warmth by utilizing air as an insulator. Based on this insight, Voxeloft technology was developed with the concept: "If we can inject air from the outside to inflate the garment and create an air layer inside, can we bring high thermal insulation to a lightweight rain jacket?" During the development process, it became clear that air layers formed purely by external air injection lack filling materials like batting to restrict movement, causing internal convection once the layer exceeds a certain thickness, which limits heat retention. To function effectively in intended environments, Voxeloft is designed to keep each individual air layer under 10 mm. By layering the inner fabric and creating multiple air layers of optimal thickness, it suppresses air convection and successfully traps body heat inside the garment.

The Pinnacle of Brand Philosophy and Distinctive Japanese Aesthetics

By constructing multiple air layers inside the fabric and injecting air from the outside, this technology delivers stable thermal insulation. This breakthrough technology comes to life in the 26-27FW season through a new product, the Voxeloft Trail Jacket, finished with Goldwin’s signature minimal design that strips away any non-essential elements. A design spirit that uncompromisingly attends to unseen details, combined with craftsmanship rooted in Japanese aesthetics—Goldwin continually advances high-standard outdoor apparel through this dedicated approach. The product featuring Voxeloft technology directly embodies the philosophy that has guided the brand since its inception: "Dedication to Detail."

Voxeloft Trail Jacket

A waterproof jacket developed by Goldwin Tech Lab. By adjusting the amount of air inside the garment, you can fine-tune its thermal performance, allowing you to adapt to changing environments while on the move. Goldwin’s proprietary layered structure, "Voxeloft," suppresses air convection to efficiently retain heat. Featuring a three-layer air structure on the front and outer sleeves and a two-layer structure on the back, while omitting air layers in the hood and underarms, it achieves an optimal balance between warmth and mobility. The outer fabric utilizes PERTEX SHIELD PRO, known for its high durability, waterproofing, and breathability.
